In Retrospect Of 2011

As year 2011 passed and the coming of New Year, mixed with the hope and expectation, look back on the days passed.
Year 2011 is my turning point, full with hardship and tribulation. Working as director of consulting company, from strategy let out to project execution, I have to put all my soul and heart on daily routine to help client and my colleagues.


To design strategy for client is quite different from design this staff of our own consulting company. Initiated by my suggestion, our management team began to use action learning as powerful weapon to solve strategic problem we faced: defined problem, design action plan and take action upon reached consent. As we persist in doing this in year 2011, we not only solve problem we faced, also design action learning program for our client and help our client solve problem they faced.
Consulting business marketing is especially challenging to me because I always work as researcher but not marketer. As I began to run sale of consulting service, encounter some problem: not enough client pipeline to selected and no deep trust between our and client. But due to rich experience in project execution and skill in dealing with client, more importantly the rich experience in client need analysis, I designed new marked strategy: enlarge client pipeline by free of charge speech and seminars, redesign company website and use internet as straight forward marketing weapon, sent client management team email with new service and research report. Client was deeply involved in the new service and the pipeline is enlarged.
Overseeing the consulting process is difficult job, as business consultant works on client office, by no way can I directly give order and give suggestion. I designed new mechanism to oversee my team. In business consulting project we set up team consisted of both client staff and consultant and if consultant worked in client office we give client right to review performance of our consultant and if client want to change scope of project there are workflow to guide the process.
Business consulting in China is new born infant for both consulting company and client, its growth potential is unlimited and infinitely. But for Chinese business consulting company to grasp chance to grow; the reality is still tough and still long way to learning from western counterparty and still need society to protected more strictly about consulting intellectual property rights.
