Change management process, if should be effective, it should transform whole system, and even deep rooted part of corporate. To consultant and client disappointed, change management process always fail to be transformative, especially, change process initiated by consultant.
Work as change management consultant, helping client to change to fit into market and survive, in the process, consultant find that some factors hampers the change and transformation process. First, corporate culture is intangible part of the whole system and is of the most difficult part to be changed. The culture system lies deeply in what people believe things should be deal with for long time and becomes even traditional. For a change process effective and transformative, conception and cognation should be modified and behaviors should be change in accordance with. This steps of transformation is really challenge for consultant, for consultant should help client to experience and habituated the change. Second, no retreat path should be leave for client. For change facilitator and intervention process goes on, consultant should find some symbolic point to work and change some critically part of system, and more importantly, change irreversible. When client find no way to go back, then transformative process begins.
Change management process should consider culture and tacit of reform process, strategy should be design to facilitated transformation not just change process. As for strategy, one is buy in process and makes client habituated change over; other is leave on way to retreat, if use skillfully can help client realizes transformation.
